Chief's Accommodation Awards

During the Town of Clayton's May Council Meeting Clayton Police Chief Carl Hutson recognized several Clayton Fire Company members and a Clayton Police Officer for their actions in saving the life of a Clayton man and his mother from a trailer fire. The fire occurred on the afternoon of Monday, April 1. When a Clayton Police and Smyrna Police Officer and Clayton Firefighters arrived, the fire was engulfing their mobile home in the Clayton Courts Community. As the first fire company member was arriving, Clayton Police officer PFC Daniel Hume and Smyrna Police officer Sargeant Michael Helton were in the process of pulling a male victim out of a bedroom window of the trailer. Immediately Captain Austin Moorhead and Past Chief Robert Davis who arrived a minute behind Moorhead entered the same window and began searching for the female occupant. Whithin minutes she was located and with the assistance of several other arriving firefighters from Clayton, they were able to remove the victim through the bedroom window to awaiting EMS crews. The male and female were transported to Chester Crozer Burn Center in PA. The male was treated and released after several days. As of this writing, the female victim is still hospitalized in the burn center but is improving with her conditions. During the meeting Chief Hutson presented certificates and the "Chief's Accommodation Award" to the following: Clayton Police Department officer PFC Daniel Hume, Clayton Fire Company members Captain Austin Moorhead, Captain Jonathan Burnett, Past Chief Robert Davis, and Firefighters David Ross, Jason Sacco, Claude "Ray" Johnson, and Michael Lucas.
